Well, just go through discomforting menstrual days forever.

While menstrual protection is also offered in other forms like tampons, sanitary pads continue to be a preferred choice for most women in Kenya and around the world. It is especially suitable for young girls who have just started their menstrual cycle. The reason? It is comforting, stays securely in the underwear, and is just so easy to wear.

Here are the 4 simple steps to wear a sanitary pad:

  4. Dispose of the pad

Carefully place the pad on the lower panty of your panty. This is the area that will lie between your legs, just below your vagina. If you think that you need more protection on the back, place the pad slightly more towards the back of the panty. However, be sure not to push too much. Firmly press the pad on the panty.

If your pad has wings, peel off the paper. Flap and press the wings on either side of the panty. Again, gently press to make sure the pad is stuck properly.

While learning to wear a sanitary pad the right way is key, make sure you change it every 4 to 7 hours to avoid oversoaking and vaginal infections.

Once your pad is fully soaked or saturated, pull it off the panty. Roll it up and place it in the wrapper of your fresh pad. Wrap well and drop it into the waste bin. You may also maintain a separate waste bin for this purpose.
